This breathtaking waterfront home in Ballybunion, Co. Kerry, is a signature project by Neil Norton Design - a company renowned for crafting unique spaces through an expert blend of quality materials and creative vision. Designed as a holiday retreat, the project was rooted in creative freedom. The homeowners, captivated by Neil's distinctive style, entrusted him completely to shape a space that reflected not only their personalities but also the surrounding natural beauty. 'The client was really trusting and gave me free rein, Neil recalls. They asked me, What would you do?' And I just followed my instinct.'

The kitchen, perhaps the most striking room in the house, showcases Neil's expertise. This is my specialty,' he says. 'It's important to have everything to hand when cooking, and also have it functional? The cabinetry is painted, with solid walnut slats inlaid into the island and painted to match the space. The island took forever and a day to manufacture,' Neil admits. It's one of a kind - just like our client.'

The worktops and splashbacks feature a mix of onyx and Patagonia marble, each slab treated as a star in its own way, so we give it space to breathe.' Neil's custom touches and input are everywhere in the kitchen, including Barazza appliances such as the Barazza Icon Exclusive oven, combi microwave, warming drawer, and Zero Plus induction hob with downdraft extractor. The kitchen has fantastic appliances and a stunning larder,’ Neil says.

The bespoke floor-to-ceiling Crittall-style doors are a bold choice, reflecting Neil's attention to proportion while beautifully framing the coastal views from the heart of the home.

Flooring throughout the property is another standout design feature. Neil imported Italian tiles for the entire home. We brought the same tile from the garden into the house and out onto the driveway,' Neil shares. That cohesive flow between inside and out has been executed to seamlessly connect with nature.

The dining and living areas are furnished with pieces including a striking dining table and chairs from Objekt Design in Newcastle West. Discussing the chosen furnishings - including bespoke items - Neil adds, The clients love everything I've done. Especially the reclaimed French oak on the TV cabinet. The living room, with its floating side unit and television integrated into the space with clean, simple lines, really captures the sea view outside.
